Join the team of VCA All Creatures for several evenings of baseball, and pet loving fun. TR Hughes Stadium, home of the “River City Rascals”, is celebrating “Bring Your Dog to the Ballpark”. Yes, you read it right. On special nights fans can enjoy these home games with their pups at their side. Members of VCA All Creatures team will be there for several of the events. Stop by and say hi! We’d love to see you and your pet. We’ll have information on our clinic as well as goodies to pass out. Pet Nights are every Sunday and Monday. With the recent rains and warm weather here, an old arch enemy, a.k.a. “The Mosquito”, will soon be a nuisance to all once again. These pesky bugs are not only a bother to humans, but our furry friends as well. Mosquitos pass heartworms to dogs and cats. How do they do that you ask? Well, when an infected mosquito bites our pets they pass baby heartworm larvae into the bloodstream. The larvae then travels through the body maturing to adults, and eventually end up in the heart. This can lead to heart and lung failure, even kidney disease. How do you protect your pet from heartworms? Keep your pets on heartworm preventative year round. Even indoor only dogs and cats can be infected should an infected mosquito fly into the home. VCA All Creatures recommends Interceptor for dogs.
